rare breed

so tonight, my friend asked me to go online so she could show me something. a certain “celebrity” had tweeted the following:

“so we are both sitting on the couch, watching sports with no volume while writing a pilot and chilling… I say “I want a girlfriend” he says “well what are you waiting for?” I say “Dude, whens the last time I met a girl with class?” neither of us could think of one… LA’s tough. Then he says “do you think there are two girls, that are cousins, that are in their20’s hanging out doing the same thing as us?” I said no, at this age all girls wanna do is go out and party cuz that’s what their suppose to do at this age. WHY AREN’T THERE GIRLS WHO DON’T DO THAT!!!? our conclusion is that they are all in italy… if we are both 24 and we can’t find that girl were going there and finding her.”

she felt obligated to reply because this topic, this exact topic, is one that we discuss daily. at first i was shocked. how could this be true?  2 guys the same age who are looking for 2 girls who happen to fit the description they want. that cannot be real? it has to be some sort of a joke. but the more i thought about it, the more it saddened and angered me. why is it so “rare” to find two girls in their 20s who don’t want to go out every night and party? why can’t two girls just want to stay in and watch SNL or not get caught up in the party scene or not care about what others think of them? why is this so unbelievable nowadays?

and then it hit me: yeah sure right now it sucks to not have a significant other involved in my life. and yeah, so what if right now we’re not caught up in finding the one were going to spend the rest of our lives with? i’ve got other bigger things to worry about. and right now, i might not be the happiest person ever, but you know, one day, i will be. i believe that what goes around, comes around. i believe in the underdog. i believe that one day, the little guy, my friend and i in this case, will get everything they deserve. and we deserve nothing but the best. because we are that “rare breed”.

so to the disney bitch that tweeted that: i really don’t feel sorry for you. it’s no wonder you don’t have a girlfriend. you’re not being patient and you’re looking in all the wrong places. you’re not going to find that girl in LA or italy. sorry, you just won’t. maybe if you put down the wizard wand for a second and opened your eyes, you would be able to see there are in fact, millions of “normal” girls in front of you.

and to my best friend: keep your chin up, darling. “if you want the rainbow, you have to put up with the rain.” well, its a good thing we love wearing our rain boots so much :D (that is a smiley, not just a semicolon with a capital d)
